More about the Restoration Advisory Board

The purpose of the Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) is to promote awareness and obtain constructive community review and comment on environmental clean-up activities associated with the Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) at Camp Williams.

The Camp Williams RAB consists of people representing the local communities, state, county and city governments, business groups, the Utah National Guard, and other interested parties.

RAB meetings are open to the public and are advertised in local newspapers. The following are some key concepts the RAB brings to the investigation and cleanup process:

  • RAB community representatives are not selected by the Utah National Guard, but by the RAB.
  • The RAB is co-chaired by a representative of the community and the Utah National Guard.
  • The RAB creates its own mission statement and operating procedures.
  • The RAB sets the agenda, meeting times and locations.

As its name suggests, the RAB is an advisory board, not a policy-making board. The Utah National Guard holds the ultimate responsibility for making decisions regarding the investigation and cleanup. However, the RAB will not be without influence. The RAB gives community representatives the opportunity to make community concerns understood earlier in the process. As progress is made in the investigation, many of the communities' concerns will have already been addressed, making the final proposal more of a cooperative effort.

The munitions response program taking place at Camp Williams involves six sites. Detailed information about each of the six sites can be viewed on the sites section of this website. The sites include the following:

Artillery Impact Area Buffer Zone
Rose Canyon
Southeast Area
Southeast Simulated Attack Area
Southwest Area
Wood Hollow
